However, the king demolished the building’s height. on the other hand, He even does not bother to kill innocents because his power and money helped him to get away with anything even crimes. Do not get shocked yet! He raised the taxes of various locations under his control that people suffered a lot. Kuldhara village is an abandoned village located in Jailasmir district, Rajasthan. If you visit the village you will see broken houses still standing trying to tell the tale of its past. You will be seeing houses without windows or doors proving the age of the village. The village was habitat by the Paliwal brahmins. They are immigrants of Pali who are settled in the area back in the 13th century.

Kuldhara was a very rich and prosperous village back in its heyday. Paliwal Brahmin was a very hardworking and wealthy community. Their hard work helps the village to boost its wealth over time.
According to Mridula Ramesh, The land was parched. however, the wealth and the hard work developed great water management in the village. They build a shallow earthen dam that helped to hold rainwater. The dam helped the villages to replenish the land and keep the soil moist to conduct agriculture. It helps Paliwal brahmins to be wealthy. During this time the cruel PM of Jaisalmer, Salim Singh was attracted toward’s Paliwal Brahmin’s wealth. when he reached the village he got attacked by the village chief's daughter and threatens to deliver the girl to him by the next morning. In case of failure or if anyone tries to protest against his demands then he will not only abduct the girl but also increase the tax to the extent that the villager will suffer from poverty.
The villagers were well-known about Salim Singh and his brutality. So the whole village abandoned their home to honour the girl as well as their life and left without any trace. However, before abandoning the village they cursed the whole village that no one will be able to live in their beloved home from that day. This is the story told by the people who live near the village.
The place is now open for tourists to visit. The government also reconstructed a few homes to regenerate the old look of the village. If you even plan to visit Jaisalmer then please visit Kuldhara village. Many who visited the place explained two different types of theories. The first one is of course that paranormal activity does not allow anyone to stay in the village and the second one is the earthquake, which is the reason for the overnight abandonment of the village.
If we focus on earthquake villages then-recent research on the area debunked the theory. A paper has been written by Gangan Prathap mentioned that an earthquake cannot be a reason for the overnight abandonment of the village. He mentioned that
“Records reveal that no earthquake had occurred around the period of the great migration.”
The village is not placed in an isolated location, rather present within the cluster of many small villages. The scientists failed to find any traces or records of earthquake occurrence in the area.
“The nature of fall of collapsed roofs, lintels, joists and pillars. We observed that the walls are still in contact with each other over the entire street and with their adjoining houses, which is not possible in the case of damage by an earthquake” (Roy et al., 2017).
The stories about the villages have some truth in them. According to RAJPUT GAZETTEER, VOLUME 11, Salim Singh is the main reason for the abandonment of the village. The migrated Paliwal brahmins are settled around the Jaisalmer such as Jodhpur and other regions out of Salim Singh’s reach.
Now let's talk about the first theory, the hauntings. Various popular international paranormal teams as well as the Indian paranormal teams did investigate the area. however, there is no strong evidence present. majority of the investigation team felt the presence. The most common issue that those teams including the media channel faced that the electronic device malfunction. Nevertheless, It can not be compelling evidence of the existence of the ghosts in the village.
